barely. Seems I have a nice little ear infection (said he's seen me with worse) and possibly strep throat. How I hate throat cultures. Problem isn't that I have these things, throat isn't so bad, just feels like something is stuck in there, but the ear, despite having had worse, is annoying as all hell. The pain in the ear is so so but its radiating out into my left eye and down my neck. Sigh. I hope he kills whatever has been plaguing me lately once and for all!
Anyway, the weekend was pretty good. Friday Disney on Ice was nice. The girls all seemed to like it. Jim noticed right off the bat that Mowgli had no hair on his chest or under his arms. Ewwww. And Maureen noticed that Tarzan didn't either. I had visions of Douggie's brother giving him grief in "the cutting edge", 'are they gonna make you shave your legs?', LOLOLOL! Anyway, the skating was sweet. I love skating. Watching it anyway, LOL!
Saturday I got up, made the bank run and went to the shop. Pop Pop had to work at his REAL job so I ended up busting my ass for a few hours tagging in and waiting on customers. I swear I'll never remember all their names. I wonder how Jim does it?! Every now and then I get one, but most of them have me figured out now and just tell me, LOL! Then we headed out in the cold pouring rain and went the hell home! Lori, JP and Morgan came over in the evening and JP and Jim watched football while we played the "extremely gross game of science" with the girls. Watching Lori stick a pillow in her back and crawl around on all fours like a camel was pretty funny. Then I videoed the girls dancing in the kitchen. What a pair of hams. The girls did everyones hair. Jim looks really cute with little tufts of hair in little hair bands, and JP was a vision with clips throughout is short sheared locks, LOL! We got pictures too! Everyone decided if they held up an alcoholic drink for the camera they could plead insanity, LOL!
Sunday I did laundry and cleaned and vegged. Had to do that at least a bit!
And Monday was the X-Ray tour. I called the DR at this point and he was booked full but she said he'd call me in a prescription. Then she called me back and asked if I could run in so he could do a throat culture. So I did. Took Mercy out to lunch, picked up my prescription then got the other girls I was taking and off we went. The tour was cool. Even Alyssa (who thinks EVERYTHING is boring) said it was good. They showed them all the equipment, the lead gloves and gowns were tried on, the viewing room was checked out, and lastly she showed them a whole slew of x-rays. A horses leg, a cat, a baby with a broken collar bone, a mummy, Halloween candy, just tons of different things. The poor woman had to put down their hands a few times because they were right in her face, LOL. She took it well though. there were LOTS of questions! I think the girls were awed with this one. Identifying candy on an x-ray was fun!
After that I was too tired to do much else so Joe took Mercy shopping for her Christmas gift and got a LITTLE carried away. Then Jim took her to dance. I just vegged more until I went to bed. Feeling a little crappier as time goes on so I'm really hoping the antibiotic works!
As for Brownie's, I got a hold of David finally. He's coming on Thursday with a friend who is a percussionist and they're going to serenade the girls, LOL. He's also going to teach them the musical alphabet and bring pictures of other instruments and whatnot. I told him anything he wanted was fine by me! And the dance place promised to get me a teacher for a night for their dance lesson. So I'm good. I also have a magic show/learning session scheduled for the 9th and tour of our local PBS station in February. Do you think I do too much with them??? I mean, they seem to like it but should I slow down a little with them? Or do you think they can handle these constant learning experiences. I mean I know they're having fun learning but I wonder if I'm overloading them. They're all so young. Granted they aren't going to remember a whole lot but maybe if I didn't hand them so much they'd retain more???
I managed to find a council who has a "Best Bones" try it, which is a council's own. I really wanted my girls who showed up yesterday to get a badge of some sort to commemorate the trip. Hospital Tour didn't seem to cut it since they didn't tour the whole hospital. Plus a try-it is more of an earned badge which means more than just a fun patch. My girls are going to move into year three with one heck of a pile of badges on their vests, LOL! But there really is no way we can earn ALL the possible try-its in three years. It just doesn't seem possible. The Disney patch was HUGE! But pretty cool. They're going to need new vests and sashes to fit all their patches at this rate! But somehow, it seems like collecting the patches is fun for them. They like getting new ones.
Okay, enough babbling, took my medicine like a good girl, gonna take some tylenol and sit for a bit.

I want to see those pictures of Jim with his hair all done up.. Sadly enough due to this blog we now have proof they were not enebriated and therefore were willing participants in their day of beauty! ;) Too cute..what great sports..
Hmm you being sick again..My goodness you have the crappiest immune system. Sweetie don't be mad at me, but honestly I think you are continually pushing yourself to do so much, be so much for everyone that your body is where it takes it's toll. You end up paying when you push yourself so hard..emotionally, or physically. Me I'm getting a bit of both these days..which is why I'm so good at spotting it in others. Please take care of yourself for me..and I'll take care of myself for you ok? See..that's what friends are for right? :)
Girl Scouts..OMG I would love to be a kid in your troop..but this is you and you've always had it in you. It's why I said you'd rock at homeschooling. We did an Xray/hospital tour with homeschool kids.. Amazing they would have earned a girl scout badge with it. Btw..both girls are on a waiting list here to join a girl scout troop. IF I wanted to start a new troop we'd be all set.. Please kill me..there is simply no way I have the time nor the energy to start my own troop.
Doing too much with them? I'm not sure..you could slow it down a bit..but if they are enjoying themselves and you are not wearing yourself out... (shaking my head at you here)...then continue with it. You are giving them amazing learning experiences!
Glad to hear you took your medicine..I'm now officially out of mine. Will be reinsured as of the 16th..woo hoooh shit that means we're insured again...as today is the 17th (thank goodness for calendars).. YIPPEE!! phew.. I can go to the doctor's again and don't need to pay out of pocket for my dang prescriptions...

and i will post the pictures somewhere so you can see them, i know downloading would be rough for you.
i love doing the Brownie stuff, I just worry about overwhelming them. I know they love it, and the parents who do participate seem to love it too. I can't beleive how many times the poor girls got to see their faces in the paper, LOL! i just worry about them, you know how it is. the planning seems to be easy, and the ideas just seem to pop out of nowhere. i beleive Maureen's last comment was, "I don't know how you're going to top this year". I just wish more girls participated in the trips. It seems they all show up for meetings but not for trips, though this time i had half of them. So, I'm trying to get more things in house for them. Thus the music and dance sessions... We're working on our music and dance badges. They made tambourines last week, LOL! Disney and Ice counts as a dance event. And since I had 16 out of 18 girls I'm good there.
How does that relate to homeschooling?! I can't imagine sitting down with Mercy and actually teaching her anything of consequense. I mean yeah, teaching her to write her name in cursive, hey, she wanted to do it. And reading her stories and coloring and stuff like that with her. I love doing crafts, but as often as I think about it I'm not sure I'd have the patience to actually teach and test the kiddo. I think I'd fail miserable in that. Making learning fun is one thing, but teaching her what is required is another.
Anyway, I think my body just hasn't recovered yet from stuff. I've probably had the strep since thanksgiving but everytime i thought to call he wasn't in or it was forgotten in the mess of other things. Then the lowered resistance led to the nasty cold. Apparently not taking care of it promptly has just set me up for everything else. Ear aches are common for me. So now, I intend to kick it once and for all! December and January were so hectic for me with the holidays and work that I barely had time to breathe let alone take care of myself. So, I did the best I could, and now I'm doing it right.

I think you're doing a good job of getting the girls hooked on Girl Scouts now, while they're still young and impressionable, and you're still excited about it and showing it by coming up with all these fun things! Then when you start slowing down, hopefully they (or their parents, maybe?!?) will have ideas of their own!!!
Question: Will you move ahead with your troop; i.e. when they become juniors, will you move with them? I can't remember how that worked for ED...

i doan wanna slow down, LOL, though I imagine I'll eventually run out of places to go. my theory is as they get older we can go farther...
As for the moving up. I imagine I CAN, but I was thinking I'd stay at this level and let Mercy move on to someone new. I hate to leave a hole in the spot anyway by dropping a troop. I can't hold her hand till she graduates so I figure she needs to have more role models in her life. And since she's my kid she can tag along on anything I do with Brownies too. Best of both worlds, LOL. Plus I think younger kids will be easier, I'm not sure I want to move up to camping....
